Piper Levine is a mixed media artist and poet. Portraying intimate themes, tearing apart and rebuilding, she believes that paint and sculptural elements can hold the weight of vulnerable emotions. Multitudes of surfaces, acrylic and oil paint, ink, collaged paper, thread, found fabrics and materials; worlds are created within and beyond the canvas. Inside them imaginary characters portray familiar intimate emotions, with incongruous, dejected qualities. Rotting colors and atmospheres describe fading memories. Paint and textiles built and stitched together: a portal to another world of the mind.
Piper is obtaining her bachelor’s in fine arts at SUNY Purchase focused in painting. Piper was one of three artists featured in a Pop-Up at Grit Gallery in Newburgh as well as group exhibitions at both Raphel Moser Gallery in Catskill and Emerge Gallery in Saugerties. She has read poetry at ‘White Noise Events’ at Green Kill Art Center, and resides in Woodstock, NY.
